Rinzu

Rinzu (綸子) is a type of silk satin damask made with threads that are dyed and woven to form a shiny repeat patterns on a matte background using a twill-type weaving technique, characterized by diagonal lines. Rinzu damask can be light-weight or heavy fabric, and is often used for formal kimonos.

Two different types of silk thread are used to create the final patterns, which are typically geometric or floral.

Rinzu silk can be re-dyed or painted to create other patterns, such as those of iromuji or uchikake kimonos.
This fabric elevates the style of Heizei.
