Banderari groom and bride in Rome, Italy
BANDERARI · DESTINATION WEDDING ITALY

The groom belongs to the occasion

For a destination wedding in Italy, Banderari considers the place, the hour and the people before designing what the groom will wear.

DRESSING THE ITALIAN CEREMONY

The ceremony sets the terms

A ceremony on the coast at noon and a black-tie dinner in a Roman palazzo ask different things of the same man. We read the setting and the sequence of the day before choosing formality, cloth and cut.

He should belong naturally to the wedding and stand beside the bride with his own presence. We consider the formality and proportions of both looks without dressing him to match her gown or the decoration.

01 · THE EVENT

The event comes first

Venue and architecture; season, climate and hour; ceremony, invitation and reception. We also consider the bride’s level of formality, the couple’s direction and the roles of family and entourage. The wedding palette may inform contrast and restrained accents; it does not prescribe the colour of the groom’s suit.

Dress codes are read in context. Black tie belongs to an evening occasion when the invitation calls for it; morning dress follows a different tradition. We advise on the code before drawing the sartorial line.

Where we work, every day

A hill-town ceremony, a private estate and a formal dinner in a palazzo are distinct occasions. The venue, the temperature and the passage from ceremony to reception affect cloth, construction and formality.

Casa Banderari is in Foligno; our atelier is in Terni. For couples arriving from abroad, that proximity helps us discuss the setting with their planner and arrange fittings around travel.

Todi: a formal line for a church ceremony

At the Tempio di San Fortunato, Emanuele wore a deep blue suit in Scabal Summer Cashmere, with waistcoat and tie. Its proportions and cloth answered this particular church ceremony and season. It is one decision for one wedding, rather than a rule for Umbria.

02 · FROM ABROAD TO ITALY

A project planned across borders

We can begin remotely. Once we know the wedding date and your travel windows, we establish what can be decided before you arrive and which measurements and fittings must take place in person. The schedule follows the real visits available.

01 / First conversation

We begin with the venue, date, level of formality and what you already know about the clothes you would like to wear.

02 / Direction and planning

We agree the silhouette, cloth and dress code, then set out the appointments, decisions and costs before work begins.

03 / Fittings in Italy

Measurements and fittings take place in person at the agreed stages. We refine the fit and confirm the final composition.

04 / The wedding days

Collection, accessories and any dressing assistance on the wedding day are discussed within your individual plan, subject to the location and timetable. If arranged, we can coordinate the final checks with the planner or venue where useful.

03 · A WEDDING HAS MORE THAN ONE WARDROBE

One occasion. Different roles.

A destination wedding may move from a welcome dinner to the ceremony, an evening reception and the following day. We consider the clothes needed for each actual occasion, rather than assuming one code serves them all. Fathers, brothers, witnesses and groomsmen can be considered alongside the groom. Coherence need not mean identical suits.

With planners, designers and venues, we align on dress code, fitting dates and the practical details that affect the day. The sartorial project remains part of the wider planning process.

WEDDINGS AND EDITORIAL STUDIES

Two settings. Two sartorial decisions.

Ravello is a real wedding; Villa Astor is an editorial study of evening formalwear. Both show how the occasion changes the clothes.

At the ruins of Sant’Eustachio, the open light and pale stone called for a measured, light-toned suit. Edoardo’s self-tied bow tie, made from Japanese silk, added a personal accent; Palazzo Pascal then carried the celebration into its next setting. The decision came from this ceremony and its surroundings, not a general rule for coastal weddings.

INTERNATIONAL CLIENTS · IN THEIR WORDS

In their words.

Two accounts of working with Banderari, from the first meeting to the finished garment.

“They took the time to understand exactly what my husband was looking for, obsessing over every nuance of the fit and aesthetics until it wasn’t just a suit, but a true work of art tailored exclusively to my husband.”

“From the first moment on when I entered Omars and Angelas shop I felt welcomed and had no doubt about the success of their work.”

GOOD QUESTIONS TO ASK EARLY

Before the first fitting.

As soon as the wedding date and your likely travel windows are known. We can then confirm a realistic project and fitting schedule for the garment and level of formality you need.

Yes. An initial video conversation can establish the event, direction and timetable. In-person measurements and fittings are planned in Italy at the appropriate stages.

The invitation, ceremony, venue and traditions determine the level of formality. A daytime formal ceremony and an evening black-tie reception are different occasions. We discuss the actual sequence before recommending a code.

We consider the formality, silhouette and character of the bride’s look alongside the setting. The palette may guide contrast or a restrained accent, but it does not prescribe the suit colour or require matching accessories.

Yes. With your agreement, we can coordinate the dress code and practical fitting and delivery dates with the professionals planning the celebration.

We consider the ceremony, reception and any separate evening occasion in sequence. We then decide whether one composition serves them well or a change of dress is appropriate for the invitations and timetable.

Where relevant, we can consider the wider group, their roles and the wedding’s formality. Each person is dressed appropriately rather than simply placed in a matching uniform.
