HISTORY

Liberty fabrics have a great tradition and history that spans over 80 years.

In 1875 he opened a small shop on Regent Street in London called Liberty & Co. This was the dream of an Englishman Arthur Lasenby Liberty, a man of great vision and artistic abilities who until his death in 1917 played a leading role in growth and in the results of a wonderful department store.

Arthur Liberty spent many years traveling in the eastern parts of the world to draw inspiration for the development of his shop and would bring home beautiful rugs and fabrics from these countries.

He involved William Morris and other famous 19th century artists in the design of carpets and materials. Some of these early projects are still used today.

The name Liberty London is now synonymous with furnishing and clothing fabrics not to mention the famous and fascinating shops that host their products in the Regents and Marlborough Street.
